School Council

Our School Council is led by school councillors representing their class and overseen by Miss Ash. It aims to ensure that every child has a voice and feels that they can contribute to making Culverstone Green Primary School the caring, creative environment every child can be confident in. Every academic year, two pupils are elected by their classmates to represent their class on the school council.

The school council meets once a month to discuss any matters that are of interest or concern to the children and the school councillors are encouraged to set the agenda by consultation with their classmates.

Our Vision

The role of a school councillor involves being the voice of the school. To embrace the school values and reflect them every day. To be passionate to want to make the school an even better place and to have the confidence to challenge current ideas. We want to collaboratively work together with children, staff and parents to ensure all pupils are safe, healthy and happy at school.

The children who were elected to be their class representatives, by their peers, demonstrate many important attributes,

such as:

• being a good listener,

• being able to talk to others,

• able to work as a team,

• have the resilience to see a task through to the end,

• and are aware of the current issues the school may need to improve on to make it even better.

The children then chose the roles they would like to focus on during their time as a school councillor, below is a list of our school councillors and the area they have chosen to lead.

The House Captains are responsible for the following:

• Organising and facilitating inter-house competitions as well as events involving schools from across the trust.
• Helping to select school teams for a range of events.
• Encouraging active play at lunchtime.
• Encouraging House Unity across their groups as well as throughout the school.
• Announcing House Points totals at celebration assembly.
• Setting an example to other children in the school.

Librarians

At Culverstone Green, we are fortunate to have a beautiful and spacious library, as well as shared year group areas, which hold hundreds of books across a range of authors and genres.  Keeping the library organised and tidy is very important so that every pupil can find and enjoy a reading book.  Therefore we are very pleased to welcome our new 2023 team of CGPS Librarians!

To become a librarian at our school, each pupil had to complete an application form explaining why they would be good at the job and show their passion for books and reading.  The school librarians are a team of fantastic pupils from year 3 to 5 who love to read and help to inspire others to read.

Every week, the librarians dedicate some of their lunchtime to keeping our beautiful library tidy and organised, as well as recommending books to other pupils and making sure that the library is used respectfully.

Our team of librarians are below and they will be happy to help any pupil or staff member to find the perfect book to enjoy!
